I’m Anne and I’m a food addict. Always planning the next thing that will be on my plate, I get particularly excited by spicy Thai food, proper fish and chips and anything that has rhubarb or cinnamon in it. Whenever I have some free space in my diary, I jump on a plane to eat my way around the world. The first thing I devour when I’m back in Luxembourg is a Rieslingspaschtéit.
Food has always been an obsession of mine. When I was little I was in the Scouts. And every honourable little scout had to get these badges for their uniforms, you know, like the “First Aid Badge”, the “Sports Badge” etc, you get the idea. Right, and the other day I stumbled upon my old uniform, and I realized that I only ever received two badges! And guess what they were?! The “Cooking Badge” and the “Reporter Badge”. I think I was destined to have a food blog!
I moved to the UK in 2003 for my studies and stayed for 12 years. The British charm just had its ways with me. By eating my way around London I got to taste some of the greatest food in the world, which I then decided to recreate at home… So I started “Anne’s Kitchen” in February 2010, to share my growing recipe collection. Over the years, the blog has evolved, and today I find myself lucky to say that it has offered me the opportunities to shape my career and do exactly what I’ve always wanted to do: cook, photograph and film food.
In September 2013, my very own Anne’s Kitchen TV show hit television screens in Luxembourg. In the first season of my show I am cooking British food – sometimes with a Luxembourgish twist – in my little London kitchen. I also introduce viewers to my favourite London neighbourhoods, and show them to the best foodie spots in town. The episodes are available here with English subtitles.
For my third season, I decided to focus on the food from my homeland, Luxembourg. It coincided with my move back to Luxembourg, and I thought it was about time to rediscover the country I come from and explore its intricate food culture.
I’m also super excited about my three Anne’s Kitchen cookbooks. In the first book, I share 100 of my favourites British-inspired recipes. Expect comforting pies, lovely afternoon tea delights and party nibbles. My second book takes inspiration from Barcelona, Istanbul and Berlin and is packed with Mediterranean tapas, oriental delights and hearty German comfort food. My newest book is about Luxembourg, my home sweet home.
For me cooking is all about sharing and enjoying life. My friends and neighbours love my food, and I hope you will too.
